You must be aged 19+ at 31 August of the current academic year.

About this qualification:

The purpose of Functional Skills Mathematics Entry Level qualifications is to demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and the ability to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations.

Who is it suitable for?

For learners looking to become confident in their use of fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills.

Functional Skills qualifications support learners to demonstrate their understanding by applying their knowledge and skills to solve simple mathematical problems or carry out simple tasks.

Lots of different skills including:

  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • How to use a calculator
  • Fractions and percentages
  • Taking measurements
  • Managing money

Entry requirements

There are no pre-entry requirements for this qualification and no minimum age requirement has been set for registration.

Qualification structure:

The controlled assessment is divided into 2 sections:

• Section A: The non-calculator section
• Section B: The calculator section

  • The course runs throughout a year.
  • 3 hours classes Monday-Friday.
  • 3PM-6PM.
  • The pass rates are excellent, above national average
  • Excellent teaching and support from outstanding staff
  • The course is offered at three different levels so there is something for everybody

On completion of the course, learners can progress to higher classes, apprenticeships.
